The risks of the industry

A tremendous amount of press has focused on safety issues within the commercial transportation industry, compared to relatively little press focused on public transportation safety. This is likely driven by the media’s fascination with fatal accidents. 

It may surprise you to know, however, that while almost 6% of commercial drivers are injured every year, the injury rate in public transit is roughly 50% higher, or nearly 9%.  This injury rate is identical to that reported in nursing and residential care facilities, causing a number of legislative initiatives.
